Our Sustainability Journey
FROM SEED TO DOORSTEP
We believe that beautiful homewares shouldn't cost the earth. Born from a desire to reduce waste and elevate the everyday kitchen experience, our mission is rooted in sustainability, craftsmanship, and community connection.
It all started with a simple observation: local furniture makers and timber suppliers were discarding high-quality wood off-cuts—pieces too small for large projects but too beautiful to waste. We saw potential to reduce waste and use the resource more efficiently. From these humble beginnings, we began crafting premium chopping boards and kitchen accessories, each piece unique, with the natural grain and character of teak wood.
Our commitment is to maximise the sustainable use of natural resources, to support the communities who grow the wood, and be transparent with our processes from forest to customers. Here are just some of the benefits of teak
We proudly partner with sustainable organisations that share our values. For every product sold, we contribute to tree-planting initiatives that restore native forests, promote biodiversity, and combat deforestation. These initiatives empower local communities by creating jobs in reforestation and land stewardship.
Our supply chain is equally thoughtful. We work with logistics partners who provide carbon-offset shipping, ensuring that the footprint of each delivery is balanced through investments in renewable energy, forest preservation, and clean development projects. So when your Jiwa Living product arrives, you can be confident it traveled responsibly.
We’re building more than homewares. We’re cultivating a movement—a connection between makers, users, and the earth. Every chopping board, serving tray, or kitchen tool tells a story of renewal: wood given a second life, forests regrown, and communities strengthened.
Sustainability isn’t just a feature—it’s our foundation.
ETHICALLY GROWN AND MADE.
We believe that doing the right thing for the planet is just as important as doing the right thing for our business. That’s why becoming FSC certified matters to us.
FSC certification means that the wood and other forest products we use come from forests that are managed responsibly—protecting wildlife, supporting the rights of workers and indigenous communities, and ensuring forests can thrive for generations to come.
It’s not just a label; it’s a promise to our customers, our partners, and ourselves that we care about how our products are made and where they come from.
More and more people are looking for companies they can trust to do better by the planet, and this is one way we show we’re listening. Being FSC compliant helps us open doors to new opportunities, meet important sustainability goals, and stay true to the values we believe in.
To us, it’s a step forward—toward a more sustainable, responsible future. You can learn more about FSC certification at SCS Global Services.
When we began sourcing our materials, we realized that the journey from forest to home could be as meaningful as the product itself. That's why we chose to become Amfori BSCI certified.
Amfori BSCI, or the Business Social Compliance Initiative, is a global standard that helps companies ensure fair working conditions throughout their supply chains. For us, it wasn't just about meeting a requirement; it was about aligning our values with our actions. The BSCI Code of Conduct focuses on core principles like:
- Fair wages and working hours
- Freedom of association
- Safe and healthy working environments
By committing to these standards, we ensure that every artisan, every worker, and every partner in our supply chain is treated with respect and dignity.
Becoming BSCI certified meant auditing our practices, engaging with our suppliers, and continuously improving. Our customers can trust that when they bring a Jiwa Living piece into their home, they're supporting a company that cares about people as much as it cares about the environment and design.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
At Jiwa Living, we’ve always believed that beautiful homes shouldn’t come at the cost of the environment. When we started sourcing wood for our homewares, we asked ourselves: Can we trace every piece back to where it came from—and be proud of it?
That’s when we found SVLK, Indonesia’s Timber Legality Verification System. We designed our business to meet every requirement of the certification process to ensure that every piece of timber we use is harvested legally, responsibly, and with care for the forests and the people who depend on them.
For us, SVLK certification is a guarantee that your homewares are made with transparency, and respect for the earth.
We know our customers care about where things come from. And thanks to SVLK, we can prove that we do too.

Our shipping partner shares our commitment to sustainability by taking real, measurable steps to reduce their environmental impact. They’ve invested in renewable energy, with solar panels now powering many of their facilities, and they’re using low-emission vehicles, electric forklifts, and hybrid or electric team cars.
What we appreciate most is their transparent approach: they measure and report their emissions according to international standards, including those from their global transport partners. We’re proud to support a supply chain that’s actively working toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
